Kaveripakkam - A Tourist Spot
Tourists find quite interesting places to visit in Kaveripakkam town.We know Thirpparkadal and SriVaikuntam are the celestial shrines we can see only after death. But, Thirupparkadal , near Kaveripakkam is the place where Sri Ranganathar serves us to see him considering that shrine as 107th divya desam. Also you can see lord Vishnu standing on lord shiva (base of Lingam)called as Aavudaiyaar" ,to say people Hari and Shiva are the same. There is a small story behind it. A vaishnava who always thinks of Lord Vishnu never misses to go to his temple daily. On the way somewhere nearing sunset, he saw a temple ahead and thought he should worship his Lord Vishnu (thinking that was a vishnu temple) entered there. Shockingly he found Lord Shiva there and went out angrily from the temple where he saw a old man saying that brahman that only Vishnu was inside the temple. When he went inside and saw Lord vishnu upon Lord Shiva he realized they both are the same. This temple is considered to be testimony for the unity of Shaivism and Vaishanavism. God took various forms but he is one.
Adjacent to it is Sri Ranganathar who is resting on His bed of Adhi Seshan. The deity is made of wood from the tree of "Aththi". It is believed that Yama's assistant Chitraguptan was releaved of his diseases here and hence this place is said to have healing powers. This place has became a tourist place where big crowd of devotees is seen on weekends
Also this temple is famous for vaikunda yekadesi, on this day thousands of devotees buzz the temple to worship the Lord.
Another cherished tourist spot is a beautiful lake which had been constructed by a king of Palalva dynasty. His name was Nandivarman III .Lake is the bigger one in the vellore district and extends to a length of bund is 8.35 km . The lakes provide extensive benefit to 33 near by villages, and in some areas the cultivation takes places for 2 to 3 times in a year.A Water Resources Consolidation Project-II (Rs. 2900 Crores) is under the consideration of World Bank for approval.
